![]() ![]() ![]() Any large undertaking that requires mobilizing hundreds of people to complete a single task tends to be, behind, the scenes, a complete clusterfuck. Even the medicine you take is often the minimum viable product that passed FDA regulations, performing well below targeted efficacy from the initial planning. This is why you don't buy the first model year in a new generation of cars, why you don't want to live in a brand new apartment building, why the new phone that just came out sucks. And before you say that EA has the money, yes, they do, it's budgeted already, and making that money move in a large corporation when your project is already over it's own budget and past deadlines is not a trivial task. Sometimes decisions are made early on that are hard to foresee the effects of, and by the time you're dealing with those issues you're so deep into it that you have to release the minimum viable product to start recouping that initial investment so that you have the cash flow required to start addressing the problem. Frequently large projects operate at a loss, with the expectation that the money will be recouped once there is a viable product. ![]()
